Photo of me at the age of roughly fifteen. When I first really got into punk I was roughly 13 years old. I encountered many elitist punks who made me feel like I would have to give up alot of loves like spirituality, The Beatles, folk music, and basically anything happy or beautiful, or else I would be shunned as a 'Poser'. Later I realized that it was they who were the posers all along. Being punk is not about being an elitist snob who decides what is, and what is not punk. On the contrary, punk is based on Anarchistic Idealism, Freedom from all boundaries of categorization, freedom of choice, opinion, and creative expression. Punk is about breaking boundaries, not setting them. That is what attracted it to me in the first place.
